Instead of attempting to answer the questions I posed in my opinion piece (July 25), Carmel Cacopardo (Off The Mark, July 26) concocts the answers to two questions he says are being asked by the man in the street.
Indeed, the first question and its reply reveal further insight into the Cacopardo conundrum.
He replies to the question why Mepa is objecting to his reappointment by the glib answer: "Because there is no real commitment to accountability and transparency". This reveals that Mr Cacopardo thinks that Mepa's accountability and transparency depend solely on his reappointment. Somehow, he has concluded that he is indispensable for Mepa's real commitment to accountability and transparency.
Hence his insistence to get a job he does not want. In his closing paragraph, Mr Cacopardo describes my views as "warped". They could well be, if one takes off from the assumption that Mr Cacopardo's views are normal.
