A 37-year-old police officer was yesterday charged with defrauding the government of between Lm200 and Lm500 and with misappropriation.
The officer pleaded not guilty to the misappropriation of the money at the police headquarters between April 2006 and June this year.
He was also charged with fraud, forging documents and committing a crime he was duty bound to prevent. He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.
His name is not being published by court order.
Magistrate Audrey Demicoli presided over the arraignment.
Police Inspectors Simon Galea and Kenneth Haber prosecuted.
