Two men, aged 21 and 50, were yesterday accused of stealing from a shop, a quarry and two cars, and one of them was also charged with carrying out a hold-up at a supermarket.

Michael Mifsud, 21, and Michael Micallef, 50, both of Zabbar, pleaded not guilty to stealing several items from the Marsaxlokk shop George Kacca u Sajd and stealing cash and two-way radios from the site office of a Marsascala quarry in February.

They were also charged with breaking into two cars, stealing a car's registration plates, damaging the property they stole from and relapsing.

Mr Micallef was also charged with stealing from La Collina Supermarket in Marsascala, holding people there against their will and the illegal possession of a weapon in May.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera ordered that both men be remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Joseph Mercieca prosecuted.
