The Prime Minister has attended a preview of an exhibition that seeks to reinterpret Caravaggio's art in a contemporary context.
Previewed at the Auberge de Castille, which is the PM's office in Valletta, the showcase translates 400 years of history into contemporary reality through the works of Gabriel Caruana, Anton Calleja, Vince Briffa, Giuseppi Schembri Bonaci and Ceaser Attard.
The exhibition forms part of two projects: Caravaggio 400, which celebrates the 400 years since Caravaggio resided here, and the Malta Arts Festival, which starts on Friday.
Dr Gonzi recalled the varied artistic and cultural activities that were organised so far this year. He referred to the pre- budget document published last Saturday that proposes specific initiatives related to culture.
