The General Workers' Union suspended directives for industrial action at health centres on Tuesday over a dispute it has with the Health Division on nursing aides, health assistants and care workers.

The suspension, the union said, was the result of positive developments during a meeting with the government in the hope that a solution is found to pending issues. During the meeting on Tuesday, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Health Division assured the union that another meeting to continue discussions would be held by August 3, the GWU said.

The issue is over the nursing aides' right for wage scale 13, the roster and a premium allowance for the three categories of workers.
