This year, the Malta Tennis Federation (MTF) is re-launching the men's Doubles League for local clubs.
This competition was very popular in the past and the not-so-young tennis adepts will remember the tennis battles between the many teams vying for the honours.
The Doubles League, sponsored by Gasan Mamo Insurance, will, however, have a different format.
There will be three categories, namely, Premier, First and Second divisions.
Each club may enter a maximum of two teams in each division with each team composed of four players.
Competition fixtures consist of a doubles rubber over three sets with a tiebreak at the end of each set in case of a 6-6 score.
The Premier Division is composed of eight teams - Vittoriosa Lawn Tennis Club 1 and 2; Marsa Sports Club 1 and 2; St Aloysius Tennis Club; Tennis Club Kordin 1 and 2 and the Hamrun Tennis Club.
The First Division will see new clubs Rinella Tennis Club and Mgarr Tennis Club vying for promotion against VLTC 3 and 4, TCK 3 and 4 and the Birkirkara Tennis Club.
In the Second Division another relatively new club, the Lija TC, is fielding two teams. The rest of the division is made up of Rinella TC 2, VLTC 4, MSC 5 and 6, TCK 5 and 6.
