Football violence: The youth accused of killing a policeman during riots at Catania's Serie A match with Palermo in February can leave prison and go to a rehabilitation centre, a minors' court said yesterday. Berbatov: Dimitar Penev is the right man to take over as Bulgaria coach, according to captain Dimitar Berbatov. Bulgaria remain without a coach after Hristo Stoichkov quit in April to take charge of Celta Vigo. Levski Sofia's Stanimir Stoilov was appointed as caretaker for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Belarus last month. "It would be a privilege for me to play under Dimitar Penev," Tottenham Hotspur striker Berbatov said yesterday. "I've already declared my wish and the president Borislav Mihaylov knows about it."

Gudjohnsen: Iceland striker Eidur Gudjohnsen will miss Barcelona's pre-season tour of Scotland to receive treatment for a lingering knee problem, the Primera Liga side said. Club captain Carles Puyol will also miss the trip because of a knee injury, while forward Lionel Messi, defender Gabriel Milito and midfielder Rafael Marquez are rested following their participation in the Copa America.

Burnley: Burnley, who play in the second tier of English soccer, have announced a 20.0 million pound development of their historic Turf Moor ground and the surrounding area. Turf Moor will be transformed into 22,000-capacity all-seater stadium with leisure and commercial ventures including a nearby hotel and restaurant complex, the club said on their website.

Viana: Portuguese midfielder Hugo Viana will be out of action for between three and four months. The wingback fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot in pre-season training, his Spanish side Osasuna said.
