A deafening applause enveloped the Valletta Waterfront on Sunday night as Italian superstar Zucchero closed off the first edition of the Malta Jazz and Rock festival in style.

During a two-hour set, Zucchero blasted through songs from his latest album Fly, fused with hits like Diavolo In Me, Senza Una Donna and Baila. The concert signed off with the classic song You Are So Beautiful.

Over 5,000 people packed the Valletta Waterfront for what was undoubtedly the highlight of a four-day festival.

The festival has been renamed after 16 years of the Malta Jazz Festival, despite the protests of many jazz lovers. Sadly, very few people were present for the only night featuring jazz artistes. Despite the sparse crowd, both PP Arnold and Nina Ferro gave an excellent performance.

On the other hand, hundreds of people donned their Bob Marley T-shirts and created a party feeling on Friday night when The Wailers took to the stage for a set of reggae hits like I Shot The Sheriff.

The Australian Pink Floyd kicked off the festival on Thursday.

The festival was organised by NnG Promotions.
