Snags at the new hospital

First of all I must say that I'm not one who likes to criticise just for the sake of it. Mater Dei Hospital is wonderful and no one can deny that fact (even though Lm250 million were spent).

However, one cannot question but certain things. For example, St Luke's Hospital had a capacity of 1,000 patients (with some of them in corridors) while this one can take 800 patients.

The way the hospital is structured makes it impossible to adopt the system of putting patients in the corridor. Having said that, one wouldn't even dream to do such a thing seeing that a good Lm250 million went into the hospital.

So if a new hospital has been built, and knowing that one of the major problems at St Luke's was capacity, why on earth does this one have even fewer beds?

And what about the medical school? Having spent so many years building this hospital, how is it possible that a medical school was overlooked? And, finally, why are the signs all in English.

Are we not able to do something in this country and not be ashamed we are Maltese?
