Sannat today celebrates the feast of St Margaret with a pontifical concelebrated Mass led by Bishop Mario Grech at 9 a.m. The Missa in honorem S. Margaritae by Charles Camilleri will be performed.
There will be marches on the church square at 11.30. A carpet of flowers (infiorata) will be laid on the church parvis at 1 p.m. Traditional horse and donkey races will be held at 2.
Gharb parish priest Mgr Carmelo Gauci, who this year celebrates the 25th anniversary of his ordination, leads solemn vespers at 6.30.
At 7, the La Stella Band will play marches in Ta' Cenc, Marsilja, Xabbata, and Ft Xand Aquilina Streets and on St Margaret Square.
The procession, led by Mgr Cauchi, leaves at 7.45. The St Margaret Band will participate. Meanwhile, the La Stella Band will perform on St Margaret Square, followed by the Ite ad Joseph Band at 9.30.
The procession ends at 10 with a Eucharistic celebration, while festivities end at 10.30 with marches by the Ite ad Joseph Band. Some celebrations will be broadcast on Radju Margerita 96.1 FM.
Celebrations to mark the feast of St Joseph will be held at Qala parish church this week.
On Wednesday, the Vicar General, Mgr Giovanni Bosco Gauci, will celebrate Mass at 7 p.m. The Qala and Ite ad Joseph bands will participate.
On Thursday at 7 p.m., Mgr Saviour Borg will celebrate Mass with the participation of members of the Society of Christian Doctrine. Games for children and youngsters will be held on the parish square at 8.30.
On Friday at 7 p.m., Mgr Rosario Borg will say Mass, accompanied by the Legion of Mary of Gozo. A barbecue and Youth Fest at Hondoq Bay will follow at 8.30.
On Saturday, at 7 p.m., Mgr Karm Hili will celebrate Mass with prayers for the family. The Gozo Catholic Action will participate. The fund-raising group will hold a high tea on the parish square at 8.30.
Nadur council is organising the Heineken and Food Festival from Friday to next Sunday at the council gardens from 8 p.m. Friday will feature country music, with entertainment by the LineD, Ryan Farrugia, Gozo Boy, Peruvian group Iskaj and Breezes.
Various local artists, including Scream Daisy and the Brass Band, will perform on Saturday. Sunday will see the participation of J. Anvil and Sun Stroke. There will be various food stalls and competitions; there will also be entertainment for children.
The St Joseph Band Club is holding a barbecue and disco at Ix-Xatt l-Ahmar, Ghajnsielem, on Friday at 8.30 p.m. For bookings call 9947-6959.
