As part of their Comenius project entitled 'Communicating in a Changing Europe', students and teachers from Lily of the Valley, Girls Secondary School, Mosta, have produced a 'survival dictionary' for tourists, incorporated in a guidebook about Mosta.

The students recently presented their work to partners from Escola Sao Bruno in Caxias, Portugal, and Hebbelschule during a project meeting held in Kiel, Germany, where they undertook a programme of activities related to the project's theme.

The students conducted role-plays of various situations which tourists encounter when in the different countries in terms of the Maltese, German, Portuguese and English languages.

During the visit, a treasure hunt was also organised to make the students enjoy discovering highlights of Kiel. Some students also enjoyed a trip to Lübeck, a medieval town famous for its marzipan chocolates.

The students started working on a questionnaire entitled 'Young People and the Media' on their use of television, computers and mobiles. This survey will be continued in the partner schools. A comparative study of results will be collated to give a better understanding of how youths relate to the media.

Comenius projects are priceless experiences whereby students have the opportunity to widen their horizons by learning from and familiarising themselves with youths from different cultures.
