The Civil Protection Department (CPD) and the Health Department have warned the public to take the necessary precautions because of the excessive heat expected in the coming days.

CPD director Peter Cordina said the Met Office has informed his department that temperatures are expected to rise to 40 degrees in the next four days.

The public is advised to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours and to drink water frequently.
