Horses

Toys for you!

An ancient breed of horse North American Indians such Cheyenne, Lakota, Paiute, Navajo, depended on their horses. The Chickasaw and Creeks were among those who were keen horse breeders. And their heritage has influenced the Spanish Colonial horses which are a very attractive rare breed.

The original horses were Spanish, obtained at first from the chain of missions across the deep South in early Spanish colonial days.

Some tribes became important as mediators between others and the US government and it is likely that an exchange of horses between tribes occurred during the many meetings that were held.

This means the colours of the Colonial Spanish Horse vary widely and are even combined with white hairs or patches to result in grey, roan, pure white and the leopard complex of blankets, roans and dark spots.
