A group of illegal immigrants made up of 20 men and five women were brought ashore by the Armed Forces of Malta at Wied il-Buni in Birzebbuga yesterday at about 10 p.m., the army said.

The illegal immigrants had apparently steered their boat close to a tuna pen moored about four miles off shore and climbed on to its walkway.

The army was alerted about the immigrants by a Maltese fishing vessel.
