Vietnam's Asian Cup players are profiting from their fine start to the tournament in the form of a tidy windfall from the Vietnam Football Association (VFA).
The VFA will pay the national team 300 million Vietnamese dong ($18,700) as a reward for the co-hosts' 1-1 draw against Qatar.
Thursday's draw came after Vietnam had stunned United Arab Emirates 2-0 in their opening Group B game.
The Vietnamese team, who are second in the group on goal difference behind holders Japan, have so far picked up almost two billion dong during the Asian Cup.
They face Japan in their final Group B game today with a place in the quarter-finals at stake.
Vietnam is still a relatively poor country with the average yearly income just over $3,000 per person.
