The National Council of Women has noted "with great satisfaction" the changes in legislation on part-time workers. The NCW has, for the past two years, worked hard to promote these changes through its budget proposals and during the MCESD consultation for Budget 2007, it said in a statement.

"The benefits derived from this change are both direct and indirect, as it will facilitate employment in the labour market especially for single mothers and women with young children, and it will also encourage women working in the black economy to opt for employed work."
