Tunisian Tourism Minister Tijani Haddad arrives in Malta today leading a high level tourism sector delegation.
The delegation accompanying Minister Haddad includes Monce Zouari, director general of the recently inaugurated Tunisian airline Sevenair; Habib Ferchichi, director for the promotion of investments; Ridah Wennich, director of protocol; Fethi Memi, general representative of the Office National du Tourisme Tunisien (ONTT) in Italy; and Zoubeir Jebebli, director of information at the Tourism Ministry.
The delegation is flying to Malta aboard a 70-passenger capacity ATR 72-500 French/Italian-made new generation aircraft being operated by Sevenair. The plane flew from its construction factory in Toulouse, France, to Tunis Carthage airport yesterday week and this will be its maiden trip to Malta. The Tunisian airline will shortly add a Canadian-made Bombardier CRJ 900 jet to its fleet.
Tomorrow, Minister Haddad will officially launch a Tunisian Gastronomic Week being organised until next Sunday in collaboration with the Corinthia San Gorg and Marina Resort as part of celebrations in Malta marking the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tunisia and Malta. The event is also being patronised by Dr Francis Zammit Dimech, Minister for Tourism and Culture.
All food and wine served throughout the week will be typically Tunisian, skilfully co-ordinated by two Tunisian chiefs brought to Malta for the occasion, and a Tunisian folklore group, a belly dancer and two craftsmen wearing Tunisian traditional costumes will provide colourful background animation to further enhance the activity.
During the week the Tunisian Ambassador to Malta, Mohamed Ali Ganzoui, will also be hosting a reception at the Tunisian embassy in Attard.
