The government is waiting for the Opposition to take a stand before they propose the Constitutional anti-abortion amendment in Parliament. The Gift of Life foundation have said that the government's request for a position from the MLP is "reasonable"; the MLP have not yet taken a position on it.

We all claim to be against abortion but we are all still waiting for the unborn child to have rights. Why can't we all agree that this is good for the family and for Malta and protect the unborn child?

Delaying for any longer simply makes matters worse and instills unnecessary suspicions. To protect the unborn child is a noble cause; defending the embryo in this way should not present any problems to any pro-life person. But still we wait.

If I am not mistaken, many Labour MPs have signed a petition. They see no problem with this amendment. This is one matter that we should all be able to agree on, regardless of one's political orientation.
