Charlene Attard failed in her bid to improve on her national records in either the 100m or the 200m during last week's European U-23 Championships in Debrecen, Hungary.

Attard, winner of four medals in June's GSSE in Monaco, took part in the 100m heats on Thursday. She finished sixth in the first race in 12.21 seconds, 0.28 of a second slower than her best mark of 11.93 set in May.

Nataliya Murinovich, of Russia, won the 100m race in 11.48 seconds.

Attard, of Pembroke Athleta, was again in action on Friday, this time in her favourite 200m.

Running in the fourth heat, she reached the line eighth in 24.76, 0.24 of a second outside her national record also established this year.

Poland's Ewelina Klocek won the race in a personal best time of 23.26.
