Since the closure of Sta Lucija ring road to traffic between 6.30 a.m. and 9 a.m., it has become practically impossible for us Tarxien residents, especially those of Bulebel, to exit from the traffic lights situated at Palma Street, Tarxien, because as Noel Camilleri (June 20) rightly wrote, a long line of cars accumulates from Sta Lucija roundabout down tal-Barrani Road. Therefore, the only other exit from Tarxien towards Sta Lucija roundabout is through Xintill Street. But now many are those drivers coming from Fgura, Zabbar and Marsascala who are passing Tal-Barrani Road and pass through the village core towards Xintill Street, thus causing traffic congestion in Church Street, Main Street and Palm Street.

As such I suggest that our local council takes the matter in hand and discusses the issue with Sta Lucija local council. If no agreement is reached and the sign in question is not removed, then similar signs are to be fixed at the lower end of Zejtun Road, Dejma Road and at other side streets that are connected to San Anard Street. Hence, we residents can enjoy some peace as Kevin Galea (June 23) wants to enjoy in Sta Lucija.

Last and not least a question to Daniela Borg Mizzi of the Malta Transport Authority (June 26). Does paragraph two of her letter (on discouraging traffic through the residential roads and maximising the use of arterial roads) apply also to Tarxien village, especially near the parish church and surrounding streets? An answer is solicited.
