A 30-year-old man was yesterday charged with sexually assaulting a woman police constable at a police station on Monday. Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna heard Gordon Dimech, of Hamrun, plead not guilty to the violent indecent assault of the constable at his local police station at about 1.40 a.m.

He was also charged with breaching the conditions of a previous release and relapsing.

Mr Dimech was remanded in custody. Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted.

Lawyers Joseph Giglio and Anglu Farrugia were defence counsel.
