Go employees are concerned about their future because they are being made to apply for jobs they have been performing for years, the Union Haddiema Maghqudin said in a statement yesterday.
Employees who are not being selected for certain jobs are being posted to a pool without being provided with any information about their future, the union claimed.
On the other hand, the General Workers' Union criticised the UHM for "resurrecting an issue that was closed seven months ago".
The GWU said employees were given the opportunity to choose where they wanted to work while the restructuring process was going on.
The GWU said the company had informed the union in writing that Maltacom was not cutting down on the number of its employees nor making people redundant. Neither would there be any reductions in salaries.
"The workers deplore the UHM's actions, which are meant to divide workers," the GWU said.
Contacted for a reaction, UHM section secretary and assistant general secretary Jesmond Bonello said: "The General Workers' Union is mistaken in thinking this is an issue about which union has the recognition at Go.
"We strongly believe that people who have been posted in the pool should be informed about their future.
"If the General Workers' Union is saying there is no problem, it means that union is out of touch with the workers and does not know what is going on, because we are getting a lot of complaints about this matter," Mr Bonello said.
