Liverpool completed the signing of Ukrainian striker Andriy Voronin yesterday on a busy day of transfer activity at Anfield which saw Djibril Cisse and Boudewijn Zenden leave the club.

Liverpool announced Voronin's impending arrival in February but he only officially joined the club from Bayer Leverkusen yesterday after leaving there as a free agent.

In an interview, the club's new No.10 said: "After being in Germany for 12 years I felt it was time for a change and then even more so when the offer came in from Liverpool.

Voronin will link up in attack with 23-year-old Spaniard Fernando Torres, who joined Liverpool from Atletico Madrid for a club record fee of 36 million euros on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Cisse, Liverpool's previous record signing when he joined the club for £14 million in 2004, completed his permanent transfer to Marseille.

Zenden also left Liverpool for Marseille on a free transfer.

Former Liverpool hero Robbie Fowler, who left the club at the end of the season, has meanwhile been linked with a move to Cardiff City.
