Defender Cristian Chivu has said he wants to stay at Roma or move to Inter following the collapse of his transfer to Real Madrid. His 18 million euro move to the Bernabeu stalled on Thursday because of the player's salary demands, Real president Ramon Calderon said.
"Either I go to Inter or I stay at Roma," 26-year-old Romanian said yesterday, despite Serie A champions Inter saying on Wednesday they had pulled out of negotiations.
Agent Victor Becali told Reuters on Thursday: "Real Madrid's wage offer was way below Inter's proposal. Chivu will remain with Roma unless Real make a new offer. Inter made Chivu a good offer but the clubs were unable to agree on a transfer fee."
The former Ajax player, who has one year left on his Roma contract, was one of Serie A's top defenders last season.
