Sam Borg has just been appointed captain of The Oratory School, a UK Catholic boarding and day school for boys.

Mr Borg, the eldest son of the managing director of the Bortex Group, Peter Borg, and of Fabrizia Frendo Randon of Sliema, was congratulated by fellow Maltese and former Oratory School captain Sir Igor Judge, president of the Queen's Bench Division of England and Wales and head of Criminal Justice. Sir Igor, whose mother is Maltese, was also educated at St Edward's College, Malta. His mother, Rosa Judge née Micallef, still lives in Malta.

As captain, 17-year-old Mr Borg's roles and responsibilities will include leading the House captains and prefects, meeting the headmaster weekly and being the mouthpiece of the pupils in addition to being a role model.
