For the second consecutive year, Tennis Club Kordin (TCK), in conjunction with the Malta Tennis Federation, will be holding an U-16 international ranking tournament.

Sixty-two boys and 32 girls, coming from 14 different countries, have applied to take part.

Among the highest-ranking players taking part in the tournament are Omar Giacalone of Italy (no.95) and Alina Yonovskaya of Russia (no.57).

The Maltese boys who have entered this tournament are Malcolm Ferrante (ranked 1,157), Kurt Ricci, Matthew Booker, Jean Paul Schembri, Omar Sudzuka, Matthew Wards and Christ Abdelghani.

Elaine Genovese (no.179), Jasmine Hefney, Alexia Valencia and Brenda Galea will spearhead Malta's challenge in the female competition.

The qualifying rounds in both categories will be played on July 14 while the main draws get underway on July 16. The finals will be held on July 22.

A consolation event for both boys and girls will be held for first and second round losers.

In a statement, the organising committee thanked Simonds Farsons Cisk for sponsoring the tournament through San Michel Table Water.
