A woman is in a critical condition after she was hit by a car while shopping from a vegetable street vendor, the police said yesterday.

The incident occurred in Triq il-Kappuccini, Zabbar when a 54-year-old man, from the same town, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the vendor's van, the police said.

Duty Magistrate Anthony Vella appointed experts to help in an inquiry.
