Marco Masini to sing for Mother Earth
Italian artist Marco Masini will be performing live at the Qawra Point Green Village tomorrow as part of a campaign to raise awareness about climate change.
The Italian singer is no stranger to Malta, having last performed here in March 2006. So why has he accepted to return so soon?
"I accepted the invite because behind it is an event that is creating awareness about the problem we are facing - the climate change of our planet," Marco Masini explains.
He deems climate change to be a terrible problem affecting everybody. Perhaps, he is quick to add, the powerful people of the world are underestimating the extent of this global phenomenon.
Entitled Climate Change Malta, the concert featuring Marco Masini will include local singers Olivia Lewis and J. Anvil, accompanied by the Big Band Brothers and William Dance Company, as well as young singers Sophie, Chalie, Rebecca, and Naykid.
Entrance is free of charge.
Asked what fans should expect tomorrow night, Marco Masini replies: "I will be performing some of my popular songs, while playing the piano. Let's say it's a kind of acoustic version".
Marco Masini is touring Europe. "The tour goes on until autumn. I don't know what will happen after that, maybe I'll take some time off to write new songs," he says.
The Qawra Point Green Village will also include the Heart of Gold Festival 2007, plus Environment Rocks, a rock concert with Scream Daisy headlining the night. An al fresco cinema, kids zone, food and beverage stands, as well as an ethnic market and information gazebos will also be part of the village, which opens today.
