A 43-year-old Gozitan man was jailed for 27 months and fined Lm700 for the possession of cocaine with the intent to sell it.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano heard how on February 10, 2005, Martin Farrugia was about to leave Malta for Gozo. On the ferry he was stopped by the police who escorted him back on land to carry out a search. When officers asked him to get out of the car, they noticed him throw a bag on the ground and kick it under his car. It eventually resulted that the bag contained almost 37 grammes of cocaine.

Police Inspector Nezren Grixti prosecuted.
