The residents at Tigné Point, Locker Street and other streets in this locality have, for the past four years, had to walk to the bus stop either opposite the Preluna Hotel or on the Ferries.

This is due to the fact that Midi, the Tigné Point developers, with the full blessing of the Sliema local council, are not interested in completing the tunnel connecting Tigné Point to Tigné sea front.

Naturally, Midi's only concern is to build residential units and not the inconvenience being caused to the residents. Obviously, this is an issue which should be pursued by the Sliema local council and the government.

It is interesting to note that the Channel Tunnel (UK-France) from Folkstone to Calais, a distance of 27 miles, with all its complications was completed in seven years.

Only God knows when the Tigné tunnel, approximately 250 metres in length, will be completed. If Midi had the UK-France tunnel contract, it would have taken them over 45 years to complete.
