Architect and artist Lawrence Buttigieg is exhibiting 27 paintings at the Auberge d'Italie, Valletta, until July 20.
The majority of the paintings are female nudes, but a number of portraits and two landscapes are also on display.
Through Mr Buttigieg's painting process, the raw and informal body undergoes a transformation that is influenced by the sexual orientation of both artist and subject. The nudes are a celebration of the beauty and sensuality of modern women.
The artist insists that a good representation of a person, whether a portrait or a nude, is a search for quintessential truths; and so it is crucial that the artist focuses on the heart, mind, passion, and temperament of the individual.
