Noise nuisance/pollution is a fact of life today and one which should not be acceptable. I can think of car radios/CDs announcing the arrival of a car, or perhaps the poor people of St Paul's Bay where traffic noise must have been terrible with the closure of the by-pass.

However, from the content of the letter by Alexander Cortis (June 30) regarding the noise of church bells, it seems that Mr Cortis has only himself to blame. Given that he states that the bells ring every 15 minutes, then the bells would have been heard upon his earlier visit to inspect the property which he eventually bought and now lives in. This should have led him to ask himself whether or not he wished to live in such a "noisy" property. This is the same as going to live near the airport and then complaining about aeroplane noise!

I do have a very simple solution for him: Move home, and look and listen before you move into the next property.
