The major political parties, already in electoral campaign mode, are promising residents of the St Paul's Bay area embellishments that would stimulate the tourism industry and provide entertainment facilities to the many locals and tourists who visit the area in the summer months.

As a Qawra resident, I am more than delighted at all these proposals. The future of "our" area looks bright and promising.

However, independently of who succeeds in keeping their promises, credit should go to the present Administration which after convincing the electorate five years ago that Malta would benefit by joining the EU, found the funds to close down and rehabilitate the trash mountain (should I say the smouldering volcano) of Maghtab, upgrade the main roads and extend recreational areas at Kennedy grove.

Definitely much more needs to be done but had we heeded the MLP five years ago, what proposals could this party have offered us now?
