The Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise has welcomed the agreement reached between the government and port workers so that the port reform process can be concluded with substantial savings for the business community, the chamber said.
Chamber president Victor A. Galea said the agreement should lead to average savings of 20 per cent on the operating costs at the ports.
In the coming days, the chamber will be analysing the agreement to evaluate the effects it is expected to have on the cost structure of business operators.
The chamber looked forward to a system which is efficient and "effective, and ultimately cost-effective", Mr Galea said.
