None of the flights operated by Air Malta to and from Glasgow International Airport or any other British airport have been affected, a spokesman for Air Malta said yesterday. The spokesman confirmed that the airline was being informed about the measures being taken in British airports.

"In fact, all Air Malta flights, to and from these airports, including Heathrow and Gatwick, were being operated according to schedule", added the spokesman.

A number of airports including Edinburgh, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester and Blackpool have taken extra security measures. Access to forercourts and drop-off zones at terminals across the country were being "severely restricted", the British Airports Authority said.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Britain's airports are yesterday returning to normal despite the tight security restrictions.

But, cars are being prevented from dropping off or picking up passengers from terminal forecourts.

Motorists are also experiencing delays as they approach some airports owing to police road checks.

Heathrow, the UK's biggest and busiest airport, has described flight and traffic conditions as "busy but moving".

Glasgow Airport is also back to normal, along with Liverpool John Lennon which was closed for a while over the week-end.

Stansted in Essex, Southampton, Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports all reported normal service operating with no delays or cancellations.
