A man was yesterday charged with trafficking in heroin three years ago.

Kevin Spiteri, 29, of Birkirkara was also charged with the possession of the drug in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use on and before April 19, 2004.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges before Magistrate Lawrence Quintano.

Lawyers José Herrera and Veronique Dalli represented Mr Spiteri.

Police Inspector Norbert Ciappara prosecuted.
