I would like to reply to Emma Mullally (Living In Front Of A Rubbish Dump, June 11) by saying that of course it is a must to vote Labour in the next election. Because whatever the Labour Party promised it has always accomplished.

I have informed Mrs Mullally several times that a new road is the responsibility of the central government.

I have also informed her about the commitment that was made between the central government and the local council on August 11, 2006 regarding new residential roads, including Kelinu Cachia Street, which is programmed to be constructed by the ministry concerned. May I ask now who has not kept his promise?

If Mrs Mullally read carefully our last electoral programme, it says that a council composed of a Labour majority will insist that central government build new roads in Tarxien. With regard to our reply to the correspondent's second letter to the council, may I inform her that the council has quoted Art. 8 of the Code of Police Laws.

According to the photo published with the letter, it seems that the rubbish dump in question is almost touching Mrs Mullally's residence. Surely it is possible to notice someone dumping rubbish just in front of one's own main door.

I suggest that if your correspondent wants a concrete solution she must refer to the Minister Responsible for Roads.
