Didier Drogba claims he is not yet certain whether he will start the new season with Chelsea. The Ivorian forward had an excellent campaign with the Blues last term, bagging 33 goals and emerging as one of the best strikers in Europe.

"You want to know if I will still return to Chelsea? I will reply to that when I am ready. For now I am on holiday," Drogba, who has been linked with a move to Italy, told The Sun.

"I love the English league and may not be in a hurry to leave England. But, for now, let's just wait and see.

"I'm at the last big turning point of my career. I am tempted to discover another world and to see what footballing life is like outside England."

Fulham strike Kamara deal

Fulham have agreed a deal with West Bromwich Albion for striker Diomansy Kamara.

The Senegalese striker has been targeted by a number of clubs this summer, but Fulham are now in pole position to seal his signature after finalising terms on a deal worth £6.5 million.

It has been reported that Heidar Helguson will move in the opposite direction as part of the deal.

Saunders secures Wales role

Wales have confirmed the appointment of Dean Saunders as assistant to manager John Toshack.

Saunders, who won 75 caps for Wales during his playing days, replaces Salvador Iriarte, who has taken over as Real Sociedad's new technical director.

"I am really proud and excited to be given this opportunity," Saunders said. "I was always honoured to wear the Welsh jersey and I know I will get the same feeling by being a part of the coaching team."

Liverpool close in on Torres

Liverpool are on the brink of sealing a club record £26.5m deal to sign Atletico Madrid's Fernando Torres.

BBC Sport said that a transfer has now been agreed between Liverpool and Atletico, with Villarreal's Diego Forlan replacing the departing Torres.

Liverpool's Luis Garcia is likely to go in the opposite direction for £4.5m, but the Torres deal will not collapse if he rejects the move.

Boss Rafael Benitez is also being linked with Manchester United's Gabriel Heinze. Argentine defender Heinze is currently playing in the Copa America, but there is growing speculation Liverpool are ready to sign the 29-year-old.

Rooney to wear Law's no.10 shirt

Wayne Rooney is to inherit the number 10 shirt left vacant by Ruud van Nistelrooy's departure to Real Madrid last summer.

The England star has previously worn the number eight shirt, but has now decided to join a long list of luminaries in donning Denis Law's preferred digit.

"When I was offered the chance to wear the number ten shirt I jumped at it.

"Some of the game's greatest players have become legends wearing number ten - none more so than Denis Law," said Rooney.

Tevez delays decision on future

West Ham striker Carlos Tevez will not make a decision over his future until the end of the Copa America.

Tevez, 23, has been linked with several clubs after keeping West Ham in the Premier League, but is currently playing for Argentina in Venezuela.

Last week, Tevez ruled out a move to Italian champions Inter after they imposed a deadline for him to make a decision. Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are all rumoured to be interested, while West Ham are keen to keep him at Upton Park.

Roma forced to sell Chivu

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti revealed that Roma are forced to sell Christian Chivu to generate funds to strengthen the team's forward line.

"I understood Chivu's decision and he was honest throughout," Spalletti said. "His choice was dictated by numbers, his age and motivation."

The Romanian defender's future has not yet been decided as although Barcelona have pulled out of the race, Inter and Real Madrid continue to battle for his signature, with the Nerazzurri leading the way.

Lyon interested in Grosso

Inter defender Fabio Grosso is a target for French champions Lyon who have made an impressive bid for the Italy left-back.

La Gazzetta dello Sport said yesterday that Lyon have offered Grosso a four-year contract worth £1.7 million per season compared to his current £1m wages at Inter.

The Italian champions would receive the same £3.7m they paid to Palermo a year ago to sign Grosso.

Reginaldo to join Parma

Parma have announced that they have reached an agreement with Fiorentina forward Reginaldo Ferreira.

Last week, it was reported that Ferreira had signed for Parma and club president Tommaso Ghirard has now admitted that the rumours were true.

"We have reached agreement with the club and when Reginaldo returns from Brazil he will be a Parma player in every way," Ghirard said.

The Viola are expected to receive £3 million plus young midfielder Luca Cigarini, who made 21 Serie A appearances for Parma last term.
