Lufthansa Aviation chairman to visit Malta

Wolfgang Mayrhuber, chairman of Lufthansa Aviation (right), will be visiting Malta on Thursday to attend a ceremony during which the foundations of the new Lufthansa Technik hangar will be laid.

In April, the government and Lufthansa Technik signed the formal agreement for a €55 million investment to set up new maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities for wide-bodied aircraft.

The investment will provide 550 new jobs in the sector over four to five years.

Thursday's ceremony will take place on the site of the new hangar.

Mr Mayrhuber has more than 35 years' service with the Lufthansa Group.
