The 38th edition of the International Air Rally of Malta kicked off yesterday when arrivals by some of 18 light aircraft participating in this edition started.
The rally, which runs until Wednesday, is themed '38 Years of European Aviation Ties'.
The 18 aircraft, which will bring around 60 participants, are coming from seven European countries.
The main entries this year are the UK, Denmark, Germany, France and Switzerland.
Newcomers to the Malta rally are three teams from the Royal Air Force Flying Clubs (RAFFCA), who left from Wyton, Waddington and Cosford.
Another important visitor this year is the Bulldog Trainer Aircraft, which is similar to the one sold to the Armed Forces of Malta.
The aircraft started arriving in the late morning at 10-minute intervals. More aircraft will arrive today.
The pilots will be tested for their precision flying and navigation skills, through a Flight Planning Competition.
The prize-giving ceremony will be held at the Corinthia Palce Hotel, Attard, on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
