"Our seas" is a Comenius 1 project under Socrates, launched last September, that deals with the dynamic relationship between human beings and the sea, in which Ninu Cremona Lyceum complex of Victoria, Gozo, is participating together with three other schools from Holland and Italy.

The project studies this relationship's cultural and economic dimensions in a historical perspective, and its role in communication among peoples. It also explores alternative ecologically sustainable uses of the sea.

After the first project meeting held in Gozo last November, the second meeting was held a few weeks ago in Almere, Holland. All participating schools showed the work and research undertaken during the scholastic year and discussed initial planning for next year.

The Gozitan and Italian teachers had the unique opportunity to visit and deliver lessons to the students in the host Dutch school.

Apart from the Gozitan school, the other participating schools are the Instituto Compresivo Statale "Ignazio Buttitta" of Sicily, Italy, which is the co-ordinating school, Protestants chistelijke basisschool de Olijfboom, in Flevoland, Holland and Scuola Media Statale "Luigi Luciani", in Marche, Italy.

The next meeting is scheduled for October in Ascoli Piceno, Italy.
