Chelsea midfielder Lampard wants title back

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard believes the pain of losing their Premier League title to Manchester United will inspire his FA Cup-winning team next season.

Lampard, still waiting to sign a contract extension, believes the current squad is strong enough to tackle United after Alex Ferguson's men ended Chelsea's two-year reign as champions last month.

Despite beating United to become the first team to win the FA Cup at the new Wembley, Lampard says Chelsea are focused on bringing the title back to Stamford Bridge.

"The first year we won it, it was a huge achievement for Chelsea," he said. "That was something special for the club. It would be great to win it again.

"We have to remember what won us the title. It was about good quality football and a great team spirit - and the club together as a whole."

But Lampard knows Chelsea have more to worry about than just United.

"You see the emergence of Liverpool with a big cash injection coming through which will improve the team.

"Then you can't discount Arsenal and the group of teams below that who are pushing to get better."

Despite describing Thierry Henry as a superb player, Lampard doubted Arsenal were in a desperate situation after the striker's move to Barcelona.

"I don't buy into this thing that Arsenal are now dead and buried and falling apart. They are too big for that," he said.
