Three help police in drug inquiries

Three men are helping Drug Squad police in their investigations following the discovery of a quantity of cannabis resin at Mtarfa and Rabat on Tuesday evening.

The police said the find was made after two suspect vehicles were kept under surveillance. At about 7.15 p.m., officers stopped one of the cars at Mtarfa and during a search they found 250 grammes of cannabis resin. Its driver, a 27-year-old man from Rabat, was arrested and taken for questioning.

Some time later, the police stopped another car and two men, aged 28 and 24, both from Rabat, were also held for questioning.

A search in a residence in Rabat yielded more pieces of cannabis resin and implements associated with drug use, the police said.

Magistrate Silvio Meli appointed court experts to assist in an inquiry.
