The European Institute of Education (EIE) yesterday launched the Institut Universitaire Kurt Bosch Malta Centre and its MBA programme - another opportunity for further education.

The three specialisations of the MBA are finance banking, tourism and business, said EIE managing director Antonello Cappitta.

He said the IUKB programme made lifelong learning more accessible.

The EIE and the National Youth Council have teamed up to launch an MBA scholarship contest open to graduates who want to continue developing their business skills.

The successful participant will be awarded a scholarship worth Lm4,700 to cover the cost of the lecture-based MBA.

The contest for the scholarship is based on the organisation of a project or activity for other youths and related to sports and culture - the two focuses that the council has chosen for the year, said its president Alessia Zammit.

The EIE is licensed by the Education Ministry as a tertiary level institution. Over the past months it has worked on a nationwide educational campaign, Knowledge For All, whereby it donated over €25,000 (Lm10,700) in educational text books to various local councils and private and public organisations that have a social and educational role.

Recognised by the Swiss government as a university institute in 1992, IUKB has been developing research and education programmes abroad in a variety of fields, with international relations in several countries, said the IUKB dean of business programmes Charles Dufault. Malta has now been added to the list and he was looking forward to a fruitful partnership.
