Arraigned over serious injury attempt

A man was yesterday charged with trying to seriously injure two men, one of whom was a police constable, when he drove his car in their direction.

Jason Delia, 29, of Senglea pleaded not guilty to trying to seriously injure William Dingli and PC Mark Anthony Buttigieg and slightly injuring them when he drove his car into the constable's car in Senglea on September 3, 2006.

Mr Delia was also charged with damaging the constable's car, assaulting him, driving recklessly, speeding and relapsing.

Police Inspector Anthony Cassar prosecuted.

Lawyer Roberto Montalto appeared for Mr Delia.
