VFM seminar discusses products, outlook

Philip Barleggs, head of the Fixed Income Product Management Team at Insight Investment Management Limited, was the guest speaker at a sales seminar held by Valletta Fund Management for Bank of Valletta employees.

Insight Investment Management, part of the Halifax Bank of Scotland Group, acts as the Sub-Investment Manager of Valletta Fund Management Limited`s funds.

Mr Barleggs gave a market analysis and outlook of the global bond market.

Peter Perotti, general manager of Valletta Fund Management Limited, said the company has continued to register growth in its funds under management. The La Valette Multi Manager Property Fund on May 22, 2007 stood at €80 million and had registered an annualised return of 10.33 per cent since its inception on September 13, 2005. The sales seminar was also addressed by Mark Vella, head of marketing at Valletta Fund Management Limited, who spoke about the international market and the wide range of euro denominated products that VFM has to offer to Maltese investors as the country gears itself to adopt the single European currency in January 2008.

Grace Debono, sales and marketing executive, gave a presentation on the Vilhena Global Themed Fund, which invests in equity securities through a number of global investment themes.

Later on, Stephen Borg, from Bank of Valletta's Stockbroking, Advisory and Portfolio Management Unit, gave a review as well as an outlook of the local market and spoke about the potential of investing in the Valletta Fund Management range of Malta Funds.
