A Nigerian was yesterday jailed for one month after he admitted pushing and slightly injuring one of four bouncers who were in turn charged with injuring him and trying to kill his Somali friend.
Olori Lucky, 34, was jailed for a month when he admitted to slightly injuring Roderick Attard in Paceville, outside Fuego bar on Sunday at about 1.30 a.m.
In a separate arraignment, Magistrate Silvio Meli, presiding over both cases, heard bouncers Mr Attard, 22, of Kalkara; Anthony Azzopardi, 27, of Hamrun; David Bonello, 48, of Gharghur and Charlton Abela, 25, of Cospicua plead not guilty to all charges.
All four bouncers were charged with the attempted murder of Somali Felix Idisi Oduh and seriously injuring him with a bottle. They were also charged with slightly injuring Mr Lucky and threatening and assaulting both men. Police Inspector Carlo Ellul, prosecuting, told the magistrate that the incident that broke out outside the bar had all been captured on a CCTV.
He explained how Mr Lucky, Mr Oduh and another dark skinned man had tried to walk into Fuego but were stopped by the bouncers.
The bouncers told them that there was a party for students but when Mr Lucky showed them his student card they were still not allowed in. When Mr Lucky asked to speak to the manager, the bouncers moved him away from the bar. A scuffle followed during which tables and chairs were thrown about.
During the commotion, Mr Oduh was seriously injured in the neck with a glass bottle.
Lawyer Peter Fenech represented Mr Lucky while lawyer Joseph Giglio appeared for the four Maltese men.
