Malta's U-18 team have been given a tough assignment after being pitted against thoroughbreds Italy and Spain in what will be regarded as an extremely tough qualifying group of the European Youth Waterpolo Championships, to be staged at the Tal-Qroqq National Pool between September 8 and 15.
The other team in Group B are Greece.
The LEN Championships for Under-18 continental teams comprise 16 qualifiers from preliminary sections. The teams are divided into four groups, with the top two in each group proceeding to the quarter-finals.
Malta's U-18 squad is under the charge of Anthony Farrugia.
The draw resulted as follows:
Group A - Hungary, Netherlands, France, Slovenia.
Group B - Italy, Spain, Greece, Malta.
Group C - Serbia, Poland, Slovakia, Belarus.
Group D - Turkey, Romania, Montenegro, Croatia.
