I refer to the report entitled Priceless Silver Statues Being Restored (June 21).

The report states that this restoration project "is being funded by the Vodafone Malta Foundation and HSBC Cares for Malta's Heritage Fund" and that the "Mdina Restoration Committee is also involved".

In the first place, this project was an initiative of the Mdina Rehabilitation Project (MRP) within the Ministry for Resources and Infrastructure.

Secondly, MRP are also one of the sponsors and have in fact paid for the first phase of the project. The Mdina Rehabilitation Committee, chaired by Denis de Lucca, which advises the government on projects in Mdina, had given top priority to this project during 2007 and has, in fact, maintained its commitments.
