I appealed to Angelo Xuereb to effect the necessary repairs to the damaged Tal-Grazzja chapel in High Street, Sliema because he is now a politician and not just a developer (Radical But Just, June 14).

I appealed to him to now practise what he preached during the launch of his new right-wing party when he stated that his new party wants developments to be "carried out with the least possible inconvenience to people living in the vicinity".

I stated the facts regarding the chapel, namely that it was damaged during the construction work of Mr Xuereb's new Palace Hotel. This plea is not only mine but that of many Sliema residents who want to see this historic chapel reopened soon. In reply, Mr Xuereb (June 21) wrote that he "personally promised to help in finding a solution to repair the damage as soon as possible". He said that he is still waiting for a technical report and an estimate from the owners, that is the Church. I take his word that "AX Holdings wants to see the Tal-Grazzja chapel repaired". This is what we all want, and we shall be only too happy to see Mr Xuereb turning his words into action.

I cannot but agree with Mr Xuereb that "it is much easier to be a talker than a doer". We hope that by the next general election, when Mr Xuereb will presumably be a candidate, or at least an official of a contesting party, the Tal-Grazzja chapel would have been repaired and reopened.
